Protecting Your Investment

Let’s face it, a lot of people overlook some of the simplest things, but when it comes to your money, nothing should be overlooked.Tons of people usually end up with a sad story of how someone stole their information or hacked one site and had access to all of their “stuff” just because they did not take any extra precautions or made the mistake of sharing information that shouldn’t be shared. By not properly taking care of your accounts and personal information, you could also become a victim of identity fraud. This goes over the basics of account security and helping keep it secure. This quick article explains some of the basic methods of protecting your investments.

Duplicate Accounts -
For starters, I know it’s mentioned before several times on this site, but it is very important you do not use the same password for every site, this is especially the case if you use the same user name for every site. In the event you join a scam site or a site you’re a member of is hacked, if that single password is compromised. You could be in a lot of trouble before you even know about it.

Spyware & Trojans -
Another well known fact is, you should periodically check your system for ANY form of trojan or spyware. These devices and software can log details entered into websites. Additionally to harvesting your information these programs can also relay that information to an email address or online service where the information i smade public or provided to the requesting individual.

Never Share Your Information -
I know this seems a little obvious but you would be surprised how many people lose thier accounts due to leaking information themselves. It is VERY rare if ever, a provider should email you asking for you login details, such as password. Any emails you receive like this should be brought to the attention of the site in question.

You should never give your login details of anything to anyone unless absutely neccessary. In which case whenever that reason is over. You should change your login details, so you and only you knows them.

Use Caution Sharing Computers -
A lot of people access their accounts from internet cafes, it should always be double checked to make sure you’re logged out of a site before leaving the computer. Most sites keep you logged in by default by cookies that are stored on the computer you’re using. When you have finished using a site, make sure you click the log out button!
